Miami Jewish Health Systems At Douglas Gardens Welcomes Dr. Shaun Corbett As New Medical Director Of Rehabilitation Services & The Rosomoff Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center

MIAMI – June 1, 2015 – Miami Jewish Health Systems at Douglas Gardens, one of the largest providers of healthcare for seniors in the Southeast, recently hired Dr. Shaun Corbett as the new Medical Director of Rehabilitation Services and The Rosomoff Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center.

In his new role, Dr. Corbett will lead a team of medical professionals treating patients who suffer from complex and chronic pain, including amputees and patients with spinal cord and work related injuries. His specialty is physical medicine and rehabilitation.

The program – best known for its non-opiate, non-surgical approach to treating patients with chronic pain – focuses on a “functional restorative” approach, which has proven effective in treating more than 30,000 rehabilitation and pain patients. The program at The Rosomoff Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center has treated more than 3,000 patients as part of the comprehensive chronic pain program. As a result of their treatment, 70% of patients have experienced reduction in pain while 84% of patients say that their quality of life has improved. Nearly 90% of patients who are treated at The Rosomoff Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center are able to live with chronic pain without the use of narcotic medications.

Under Dr. Corbett’s leadership, Miami Jewish Health Systems is aiming to maintain the excellent reputation that The Rosomoff Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center has built over 40 years, with the recognition as a “Center of Excellence” for the treatment of patients who suffer chronic pain.

Dr. Corbett received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Riverside and, prior to obtaining his medical degree from The Medical College of Wisconsin he spent time performing cancer research at the UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Corbett completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Jackson Memorial Hospital / University of Miami. He previously held the title of Assistant Clinical Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine, and was the Medical Director of Cancer Rehabilitation at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
