The Right Level of Support When You Need It, 24/7

Assisted living at Hazel Cypen Tower means extra help with daily activities so you can move on to other things. We provide a personalized combination of independent living and assistance with activities of daily living to help you continue to lead a rich and dignified life. Unlike our nursing home, or a clinical care environment, our assisted living facility provides a fully staffed apartment with always available support resources. It’s ideal for aging adults who are mostly independent, but require varying levels of assistance with daily activities.

Would you like some help with that?

The challenges of aging shouldn’t hold you back from living your best life. We work together with you or your loved one to develop an assisted living plan that enables you to live as independently as possible, with support for any areas where extra help is needed.

You can get as much or as little assistance as you need – which is priced accordingly so you are only paying for services you actually use. From help with dressing and grooming, to simple daily “check-ins,” we are here for you. Our caregivers are all trained on our proprietary care model centered on empathy, Miami Jewish EmpathiCareSM.

Some examples of support that we provide include, but are not limited to:

  • Bathing and hygiene
  • Medication management
  • Incontinence management
  • Escorts around the community
  • Coordination of healthcare (even if you need a specialist)

Additionally, residents can easily transition to higher levels of support as their needs change – without moving or disrupting their lifestyle.

Memory Care

We have a secure and dedicated floor for residents living with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other neurocognitive disorders who require memory care services.

Additionally, MIND Institute at Miami Jewish Health offers a range of neurocognitive health programs – from brain fitness assessments and activities, to coaching on Alzheimer’s prevention & brain-healthy lifestyles, and more.

FAQs about Assisted Living

Who is a candidate for assisted living?

Assisted living is best for aging adults who are mostly independent but require varying levels of assistance with daily activities and self-care.

Assisted living should be also considered when the safety of your loved one becomes a concern in any way. For example, if they are at risk of falling at home or taking the wrong medications.

How does the admission process work?

Our admissions process is designed to be informative and smooth for both you and your loved one. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown:

  1. Tour Our Campus: We recommend scheduling an in-person tour to get a feel for our community, but virtual tours are also available.
  2. Clinical Assessment: Following your tour, our nurse director will conduct a clinical assessment to determine if our Assisted Living services are the right fit for your individual needs. This assessment can be done in person or virtually, though an in-person visit is recommended for a more thorough evaluation.
  3. Choose Your Apartment: Once you’ve decided to move forward, you can choose the apartment floor plan that best suits your preferences and needs.
  4. Complete Paperwork: We’ll provide you with a move-in application and assist you with gathering the required paperwork. This typically includes:
    • A completed Form 1823 from your physician
    • Your original prescriptions
    • Photo identification
    • Insurance information
    • Legal documents such as Power of Attorney, Health Care Surrogate designations, and DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) orders, if applicable
  5. Contract Signing: Schedule a convenient time to sign the official residency agreement at least one week before your move-in day. This allows ample time to review the details and ask any questions you may have.

Are assisted living apartments furnished?

Our assisted living apartments are blank canvases primed for your personal touch. Residents are encouraged to bring their own furniture and décor to make themselves feel at home. Residents are also permitted to remodel their apartments at their own expense.

Can residents bring pets?

Yes. As long as the resident is able to care for the pet, we allow one small pet per residence. Pet care services are not currently offered at Miami Jewish Health.

Is an assisted living facility right for someone with dementia?

Assisted living is not recommended for people with dementia. Instead, we recommend our memory care program. Memory care offers similar accommodations to assisted living. However, there are more comprehensive services, cognition-supporting activity programs, specially trained staff, and a more secure environment.

How much does assisted living cost?

Our assisted living apartments have monthly rental fees starting at $4,400 for a studio and for a 1 Bedroom apartment is $5070.

Prices for care services are customized to each resident. We work together with you or your loved one to develop a care plan that enables you to live as independently as possible, with support for any areas where extra help is needed. You can get as much or as little assistance as you need – which is priced accordingly so you only pay for the services you use.
