Expert Care from a Certified Clinical Team

The interdisciplinary outpatient rehabilitation team at Miami Jewish Health is led by our Chief Medical Officer Dr. Shaun Corbett, who is a Physiatrist trained in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R). Dr. Corbett oversees all treatment plans and conducts a weekly interdisciplinary review with the entire team.  One-on-one individualized treatment and an interdisciplinary model of care is key to our treatment approach.

Team members include Physical, Occupational, Speech and Massage Therapists, along with a Psychologist to help with the unique challenges of recovery. Specialty trained team members include:

  • Speech Pathologist with Board-Certified Specialty in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders

Q. How do I get started?

A. A physician prescription is needed to begin outpatient therapy. If you have a prescription, call us at 305.795.6171 to schedule your first appointment. If you don’t have a prescription, you may schedule with Dr. Corbett at 305.751.8626, ext 64003.

Q. What if I am currently receiving inpatient therapy at Miami Jewish Health?

A. If you are going to be discharged from inpatient care, your therapy team will help you understand your options for outpatient rehabilitation.

Q. What are the benefits of outpatient rehabilitation?

A. Every patient is different, but most people see faster healing from injury, surgery or illness with an outpatient therapy treatment plan. You will also receive training on exercises you can do at home for even better results.

Q. What does outpatient therapy cost?

A. Medicare and most private insurance plans will cover all or part of your therapy fees. Check with your insurance provider or contact us at 305.795.6171 for help in figuring out your coverage. Private pay options may also be available.
