A Message to the Miami Jewish Health Community

In the wake of the horrific killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, cries for justice and pleas for tolerance are being heard here at home and around the country. Sadly, George Floyd’s tragic death is only the latest high-profile example of the persistence of racism and discrimination in our society, a reality that the Black Community confronts each and every day. It is also a reminder that we at Miami Jewish Health will always act with common purpose to fight injustice and inequality on a daily basis in the way we behave and communicate, and how we treat each other.

In these uncertain times, I want to emphasize our commitment as an organization to all of our employees – to your safety, your well-being, and above all your ability to work and thrive in a positive, inclusive environment. At Miami Jewish Health, we strive to create a workplace where diversity is celebrated – where people of all backgrounds come together, share experiences, and help others in need. Our shared mission is one of healing, nurturing and caring across our community to anyone in need, and that mission starts by caring for each of you.

To this end, I want you to know that we are here for you. We are here to listen to your concerns and your ideas. We want you to feel free and safe to speak up if you ever experience intolerance and conflict in the workplace. The violence and discord we are witnessing around us can be difficult to process, and if you feel anxious or upset, we want you to know that we are here for you.

Lastly, while these are difficult times indeed, I believe we must remain optimistic, and that we have reason to be hopeful for the future. By creating and maintaining the inclusive environment we all desire here at Miami Jewish Health, let us all be part of the change we seek.

Thank you all for your part in building a community of which we can be proud.
